The Patriots Boys Basketball Team went on the road Friday night to take on their rival the Normandy Invaders. The game as usual was a hard fought battle and the lead went back and forth, but the Patriots pulled ahead late in the game with timely defense, and clutch shooting from the field and the free throw line. The Patriots held a 4 point lead going into the final 30 seconds of the game and their defense forced the Invaders to use up the clock before making a last second 3 pointer as time ran out, to give the Patriots a 70-69 win. The Patriots were lead in scoring by Senior Joey Browning with 20 points. Junior Conner Maricic overcame early foul trouble to have a strong all around game and scored 17 points. Senior Joey Greer also chipped in 14. Ryann Olavencia’s defense down the stretch helped to turn back the Invaders as well. Coach Teresi credits his teams approach in practice ” We talk about getting stops in practice and how to we need to defend to win. Tonight our preparation payed off.” The Patriots’ record is now 2-2 (2-1 in the GLC). The Patriots are home against the the Highland Hornets Tuesday, December 19 starting at 4:30.
