Multiple Teams · Swimmers Pick up the Pace as the Season Moves Along

The Valley Forge Swimming and Diving team have had many meets leading up to Parma Championships on January 6th, and have been fairing well considering the competition the team is facing. We had lots of great swims from new swimmers and veteran swimmers all around. Those of note being for the girls, Emily Hubbard, Brianna Kraguljac, Summer Whelan, and Emma Botsch placing 2nd in the Medley Relay. Summer also placed 4th in the Girls 200 IM and 1st in the 100 Butterfly. Emma placed 4th overall in the 50 Freestyle. In the 100 Freestyle Kinsey Deavers, Brianna, and Emma took 6th, 7th, and 8th place. Nicole Moore finish 6th in the 200 Free and 400 Free. the 200 Free Relay team of Anna Sevastos, Kinsey, Brianna, and Emma took home a 3rd place finish. In the 100 Back Sanibel Whelan and Emily took home a 5th and 6th place. In the 100 Breaststroke the girls took home 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 7th places with respective finishers Senior Kristina Onderak, Brianna, Anna, and Gabby Lutzo. Finishing out the meet was 400 Free Relay team in 5th place of Sanibel, Gabby, Nicole, and Summer. The Lady Patriots finish in 2nd place behind Padua Fransican with a total of 130 combined points.

For the Boys notable finishers were, Ace Eaton with a 3rd place finish in the 200 IM. Freshman Nic Hakimian and Junior Jared Zychowski taking home 6th and 7th place in the 50 Free. IN diving the boys swept the podium with Freshman Logan Smith leading the way, followed by Nic, and Freshman Nate Chilia. Jared placed 5th in the 100 Free and Anthony Toner placed 8th. In the Boys 400 Free we had Senior Zack DeLaat place 5th. The boys 200 Free Relay team of Jared, Nic, Ace, and Anthony Toner. Justin Swanberg placed 7th in the 100 Back and Ace took home a 1st place finish in the 100 Breast followed by Freshman Gavin Tycast with a 6th place finish. Lastly, the boys 400 Free Relay team of Ace, Jared, Nic and Zack placed 5th. This combined score placed them 4th at the meet only 4 points behind 2nd place which was Parma and Padua tied.

Overall, very solid efforts and swimming by many individuals at this meet. The outlook to the end of the year and swimming faster is beginning to take shape.
