The Lady Patriots girls’ soccer team finished 8-7-1. In their final 10 games, the team went 7-2-1! The girls’ finished 4-4 in the conference with key wins against Parma (11-0), Normandy (9-1), Elyria Catholic (4-2), and Fairview (6-1). The Patriots scored 66 goals throughout the regular season. Kelsey Lee (senior) led the offensive charge with a Valley Forge record setting season with 33 goals that led the Greater Cleveland and Ohio Division 1. Furthermore, Savannah Zambory (junior) had a phenomenal season scoring 17 goals finishing fifth in the Greater Cleveland and fourteenth in Ohio Division 1. What may be even more impressive this season was the defense for the Patriots that allowed just 32 goals against. Led by Abigail Semenec (senior), the backline was difficult to beat for most teams that played against Valley Forge in their final 10 games. Additionally, Natalie Greenwood proved that she is an elite talent and a critical part of the team for next season as a junior-year goal keeper. She saved 172 shots in sixteen games. The Lady Patriots welcomed ten freshmen and graduated five seniors. Of the ten freshmen, five played critical roles on Varsity this season. The future of Valley Forge girls’ soccer team looks optimistic although the program will never forget what Kelsey and Abigail contributed during their senior season, especially throughout the magical run they went on in the final 10 regular season games. The Lady Patriots will open their 2019 season for Friday Night Lights at Avon Lake high school on August 21.
