Girls Varsity Basketball · Lady Patriots take control early, hang on for a 60-51 win over Normandy

The Lady Patriots came out hungry for their home opener this past Friday night, the gym was packed for the much anticipated conference game against the Invaders and Valley Forge wanted revenge from the 2018-2019 season. Forge started hot going up 15-3 with all their points coming from three-pointers from 4 different players. The surge continued through the first half as they pushed the ball well in transition and played tough half court defense. At half time the Patriots were up 30-15.

The third quarter started off well, but the Patriots found them self in some foul trouble quickly. The Invaders were in the bonus early and used it to their advantage to score at the free throw line. Normandy and Forge continued to trade buckets throughout the second half. Haley Onderak had some key stops on defense and Emily Beckner played big at the rim the whole game and rebounded the ball tenaciously. The game came down to the wire, but the Lady Patriots pulled off the win, finishing 60-51. Key players for the Patriots were Jada Benjamin with 15 points 3 assists, Lameice El-Madhoun 14 points 3 assists, Emily Beckner 9 points 10 rebounds and both Haley Onderak and Andrea Guerra with 8 points each.

The Patriots look to take on Holy Name and the Green Wave away this Wednesday for their second Conference game.
