Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Swim Team Season Preview

The Patriots Swim Team is heading into the 2019-20 season with many new faces. Half of our team has competitive experience while the other half is completely brand new to swimming. The team had its first taste of a swim meet at this past Friday’s Blue/White Meet. There were lots of positive and some things to improve on that were observed by a USA certified High School swim official. Overall the returners are much stronger than last year as many of them competed on summer league teams. The new swimmers are in a much better position than a month ago as they are improving at a very quick rate. This season will come with a lot of ups and downs as it always does. We are focusing on technique, building strength and endurance so that the “Ups” out weight the “Downs”.

We officially begin the season at home this Wednesday 12/4 with a Tri-Meet against Elyria and North Ridgeville. The Boys look to Junior Nic Hakimian, Junior Nate Herbster, and up and comer Freshman Alex Kavalec. They plan to launch the season on the right foot with the goal of qualifying for the District Tournament. The Girls look toward the returning core of Senior Emma Botsch, Senior Catherine Rybak, Junior Gabby Lutzo, Junior Emily Hubbard, and Junior Kinsey Deavers, to push their season forward with lots of success. Also returning this year is Sophomore diver Heather Smith who continued to train in the off season with her eyes on making a splash once again at the District Tournament.
