Boys Varsity Football · Patriots Ball Control Too Much For Parma

September 11,

The Valley Forge football team opened the season with a dominating performance over crosstown rival Parma 39-6.  The Patriots Wing T offense wore down the Redmen defense rushing for 391 yards. Leading the ground attack was Kentrel Marks with 10 carries for 168 yards and Eddie Starks 11 caries for 97 yards. Also contributing to the attack Julius Sebille (47 yards) and Josh Engle (30 yards).  Sebille opened the scoring with a 38 yard touchdown run giving the Patriots a 6-0 lead. Marks would extend the lead on a 64 yard highlight in the second quarter. After a Parma turnover the Patriot offense would hit pay dirt again when Engle scored from 11 yards out extending the lead to 18-0.  The Patriots looked to be in control but the Redman would not let them.  Parma showed some grit by putting together a 65 yard touchdown drive making the score 18-7. After a short punt the Redmen took over with under 2 minutes in the half. Parma moved the ball inside the Patriot 20 but the drive would end with a Norman Pomales interception.  The second half opened fast with Josh Engle’s interception return for a touchdown.  Eddie Starks then came alive and rambled for two more scores and sealing the Patriot victory 39-6. The defense also deserves some credit for holding Parma to -9 yards rushing and 7 points.  Darian Sutton, Marques Bolden, and Will Loepp dominated the trenches.  Werner Scheffler, Malachi Tate, Antwan Torres, AJ Agosto, and Eddie Starks controlled the secondary limiting the Parma passing game to just 81 yards.
