Girls Varsity Soccer · Patriots Strike Early – Advance to Second Round

October 19,

The Lady Patriots had the opportunity to play against Parma Senior in a rematch of 2020 on Monday, 10/19 for a first round playoff game. Valley Forge dominated quickly behind leading goal scorer Savannah Zambory that put in two goals prior to the 30 minute mark in the first half. She would go on to later score two additional goals, giving her four for the game. After her fourth goal, Savannah officially moved into third place on the all-time goal scoring list at Valley Forge high school. Summer Patsko finished the first half with a crafty foot skill to beat a defender before sending a banger off the crossbar that bounced off the ground and then landed in the goal to put the Patriots up 3-0 at half. Allie Golaboff scored in the second half that gave the Patriots a nice cushion to play in front for the rest of the game. The Patriots defense (Katie Kraguljac, Bailey Kennedy, Alyssa Manas, Nina Nedeljkovic) played great, minimizing opportunities for Parma to shoot the ball. The Remen struggled to score, Natalie Greenwood made a couple saves that helped preserve the shutout. Other impressive/notable performances were by Gia Germana, Danielle Burdick, Jenna Sendrey, Lucy Casey and Krista Grabski. Coach Doug Buczak remains unbeaten in five seasons against PCSD opponents. The Lady Patriots will now need to focus on good defense while making the most out of their opportunities as they will be traveling to Strongsville (2020 undefeated season) on Thursday 6:00 PM @ Strongsville for the second round of the 2020 playoffs.
